Author(s): Elnie D. Calunsag, Leyden D. Suarez, Belen Y. Lopina

Cotabato State University, Cotabato City, Philippines

Abstract

Numerous research works have documented the various hazards associated with premarital sex (PMS) and the attitudes held by teenagers regarding it. Reexamining PMS in the context of a society with a varied cultural background and religious beliefs, however, may lead to new insights. This study initially evaluated university students’ perceptions of PMS and other related concerns on their sexuality, given that PMS is a worldwide issue and concern. Gaining an awareness of the sexual attitudes and development abilities of today’s adolescents, this study able to identify and suggest potential care that could serve as the foundation for implementing programs that address the risks associated with PMS. A forty-item research-made questionnaire was employed in this study, with 250 respondents from various colleges; predominantly female (168), primarily between the ages of 20 and 21 (129). According to the study, young people view PMS as a widespread practice in terms of prevalence. Furthermore, regarding social norms, moral values, and beliefs, majority of respondents indicated that practicing PMS puts one’s reputation and respect at risk. Not only can the individual practicing face social shame, blame, and dishonor, but family members of the practicing person may also suffer from these same emotions, particularly if the practicing person becomes pregnant. This study also showed that sexual interest and pleasure play a role in how PMS is perceived. Respondents found it challenging to talk about and be honest about their sexuality when it came to communication, knowledge, and learning about it.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of regional comprehensive factors on talent acquisition using the ASA (Attraction-Selection- Attrition) theory within the context of the automotive industry, employing a structural equation modeling approach. Analyzing data from 308 respondents, the study identifies significant relationships between regional development pole, industry agglomeration, and regional incentives with various dimensions of talent acquisition, including attraction, selection, and retention. The findings reveal that regional development pole and incentives positively influence talent management processes, whereas industry agglomeration has a detrimental effect. These insights are essential for formulating strategies to enhance talent acquisition and retention in the automotive industry by leveraging regional development and incentive mechanisms while addressing the challenges posed by industrial agglomeration.

READINESS OF GRADE 10 STUDENTS ON THE PREREQUISITE SKILLS IN STEM MATHEMATICS: A BASIS FOR STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIAL

Author(s): Jan Angelo G. Morata

Department of Education, Louella Gotladera Alcoba National High School, Bulan, Sorsogon, Philippines

Abstract

The preparedness and performance of Grade 10 students in prerequisites of STEM mathematics was the subject discussed in this study. General findings pointed to the fact that most students exhibited “Satisfactory” performance scores in key areas, with some readiness gaps seen in certain areas such as the Law of Exponents and Logarithmic and Exponential Functions rated “Low” to “Moderate”. Readiness was highly associated with performance on some of the specific competencies – namely quadratic equation techniques and formula manipulation, but not others; readiness cannot be inferred from performance alone. There is a suggestion to design strategic intervention materials that would close these gaps and refresh skills in critical areas of mathematics. The SIM should have activities that are structured, ways to motivate and support instruction towards the goal, so that there is a bridging between readiness and performance. Overall, it points out that what matters is a focused intervention for improving readiness among students in advanced STEM mathematics-prepared better for future academic and career challenges in STEM disciplines.

Abstract

Fabric plays a key role in modern society, used widely in fashion and home decor. Different fabrics, including synthetics like polyester, have unique properties that determine their applications. Stains, caused by foreign substances, are categorized into four types: enzymatic, oxidizable, greasy, and particulate. Stain removal often involves chemical-based products, which can be harmful. This study shows that Lemon Peel Extract (Citrus Limon L.) can remove oxidizable and particulate stains. With titrimetric and colorimetric analysis, it was found that 54.83% of particulate and 54.14% of oxidizable stains were removed. Promoting natural alternatives like lemon peel extract helps reduce harmful chemicals, supporting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
